Why settle for the same old look in your student apartment bedroom or dorm room? Look out of the box (and big box stores) for ideas on creating a resting space that is functional, inspiring, and full of personality. A vintage style student room does all this.
Grandmother vintage? Raid the ole attic and see what pops up, or out, and into your new student bedroom. Old silk sheets make great pillow cases with vintage glam flair. An antique phone and clock are essential, especially if you get them to work! And don’t reject the unusual colors, like this orange bed cover and curtains.

I love this room in Manhattan. Vintage style clothing designer Michelle Smith’s apartment speaks vintage chic. The decor by Shaun Jackson features an alarmingly beautiful crystal chandelier, 1940s eglomise mirror, and pale zebra-print chairs by Jim Thompson.

Creating great vintage apartment looks can be as easy as picking up a few pieces of cool furniture at a garage sale, antique flea market, or from a nice vintage website. And don’t forget you old Aunt Annie, or grandma’s attic either. Chances are the ole relatives will be more than happy to get rid of some of the extra junk up there (I mean vintage treasures, but surely tell her that it’s just old junk!). Unless she’s a horder, then you may have to bargain with the old aunt.
Sanding down and refinishing an old piece from the 60s can give your room a whole new vintage look. New Vintage…now that’s a thought. Wonder if there’s a website called that already? In any case, here a few more great vintage apartment looks that I’ve come across this week. Link me some of your own if you have the time.
Hope you enjoyed. Have a great weekend all!

Daring to be bright and different, blue and green interiors add vibrancy and life to any apartment space. I find the denim wallpaper an interesting touch. Pale green touches bring the design together. Lucas Allen photo.

Retro design is a nice, clean new/old look that can add freshness and interest to your new living space. I must say, it only works for me if the room is done completely in this style. So when considering making the room vintage, look for a theme, like the 70s for example, and stick with decorating items in that style era. It can be fun.
Retro furnishings in your apartment can give it a style and freshness. Love the color scheme here found at The Home Look.
