Student Bedrooms – vintage decor

vintage style student bedroomWhy settle for the same old look in your student apartment bedroom or dorm room? Look out of the box (and big box stores) for ideas on creating a resting space that is functional, inspiring, and full of personality. A vintage style student room does all this.

vintage_girls_roomPretty in pink…and stately vintage. An antique white iron bed with storage beneath is a nice touch. The old bean bag chair in hot pink speaks vintage.

vintage bedroom orangeGrandmother vintage? Raid the ole attic and see what pops up, or out, and into your new student bedroom. Old silk sheets make great pillow cases with vintage glam flair. An antique phone and clock are essential, especially if you get them to work! And don’t reject the unusual colors, like this orange bed cover and curtains.

Room in Manhattan

I love this room in Manhattan. Vintage style clothing designer Michelle Smith’s apartment speaks vintage chic. The decor by Shaun Jackson features an alarmingly beautiful crystal chandelier, 1940s eglomise mirror, and pale zebra-print chairs by Jim Thompson.

Vintage Apartment Looks

Creating great vintage apartment looks can be as easy as picking up a few pieces of cool furniture at a garage sale, antique flea market, or from a nice vintage website. And don’t forget you old Aunt Annie, or grandma’s attic either. Chances are the ole relatives will be more than happy to get rid of some of the extra junk up there (I mean vintage treasures, but surely tell her that it’s just old junk!). Unless she’s a horder, then you may have to bargain with the old aunt.

Sanding down and refinishing an old piece from the 60s can give your room a whole new vintage look. New Vintage…now that’s a thought. Wonder if there’s a website called that already? In any case, here a few more great vintage apartment looks that I’ve come across this week. Link me some of your own if you have the time.

Pink refridgerator! I’m in love!

On the masculine side, a great vintage apartment look.

A lovely and relaxing vintage apartment look for the bedroom.

Hope you  enjoyed. Have a great weekend all!

Blue and Green Interiors

Daring to be bright and different, blue and green interiors add vibrancy and life to any apartment space. I find the denim wallpaper an interesting touch. Pale green touches bring the design together. Lucas Allen photo.

Get out some blue and some green paint to make interesting changes to a wall or an old piece of furniture. Of course, I love the chartreuse chair on left. Smile.

More blue than green with this Shabby Chic styles chest of drawers featuring great wall art. Via Decorating Den.

Love this creative space with deep blues and olive green contrasts. Eclectic and stylish.

Softer blues and greens give a fresh lively feel to this teen/kids bedroom designed by Martensen Jones Interiors. Via House of Turquoise.

This apartment dining room is stunning with a blue glass table and green apple wall paint. I love the table setting! These look like my Libbey glassware.

The epitome of retro in blue and green interiors comes to life with blue-blue walls and Kelly green vintage style chairs.

And finally a blue and green interior space that speaks student. Another true blue and green color combo for small apartment bedrooms.

Vintage Room Style

Vintage decor ideas are easy to find and when arranged with a keen eye to style and color an apartment can have a new fresh feel. Consider some of the following ideas I’ve found. All images via Apartment Therapy.

The incredible colors of this vintage style dining room bring life  to a small space.  The animal print rug add a nice touch.

Oh, the classic metal and “pleather” table and chairs from grandma’s kitchen. Love this clean green look.

Cute vintage appliances and sinks can add charm to a small kitchen space. Color choices here add style.

The vintage curve…love the use of different styled pieces here. I can almost feel that prickly vintage material on that couch. The hanging globe light and shag throw carpet are nice touches.

Don’t forget accessories! Are you a vintage fan yet??

Retro Living, Vintage style

Retro design is a nice, clean new/old look that can add freshness and interest to your new living space.  I must say, it only works for me if the room is done completely in this style. So when considering making the room vintage, look for a theme, like the 70s for example, and stick with decorating items in that style era.  It can be fun.

Retro kitchen sets are pretty easy to come by online. Many companies make new sets in this classic style.

A piece of retro and whimsical fun…

Retro furnishings in your apartment can give it a style and freshness. Love the color scheme here found at The Home Look.
